I end 2009 in a state that is very symbolic of the year: out of money and out of time.
Just like there is no such thing as ‘casual sex’, there is no such thing as ‘free time’. There is always a cost.
I always chuckle inside when someone says, “Hey man, if you get some free time, can you…?” Really? Where is this ‘free time’, and how do I get me some?
There is always a cost. An effect. Every single moment is a simultaneous cause (which is the result of a previous effect), response (the only actual choice you have), and new effect (which goes on to being a cause of something new).
Every single moment is very expensive. Never free.
And the misconception that myself or others have or have had any moment that is ‘free’ has cost me dearly, in every way.
Cliches are true: make every moment count.

Hap————py New Year!!!
I think that “casual sex” and “free time” are matters of perception. Sometimes illusory, sometimes reality.
And I think the fact that I typed “causal sex” the first time I wrote this reply is Freudian.
True. You can choose to “waste time” and this CAN be a positive experience — I think this is what is often meant (but not understood) in the statement: “when you have free time…” The wisdom and peace-of-mind that can be gained from purposely doing something that isn’t productive (on the surface) is priceless — something money can’t buy.
I enjoyed reading your comments. I was searching the web for Prayer Chain, Lassie Foundation, Mike Knott….etc. So glad to have stumbled upon your sight. I wish and hope to hear more great music from you.
-Blessings, Kerry
p.s. I truly enjoyed reading your thoughts.
